The traveler feel comfortable while waiting for a flight at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Thailand. Suvarnabhumi climbed to sixth place in the 2012 global rankings by the non-profit Airports Council International (ACI) for airports processing more than 40 million passengers a year, up from seventh place in 2011. The top five airports of that size were, in order of ranking, Singapore, Beijing, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Guangzhou. The Suvarnabhumi airport was designed to handle 45 million passengers annually.
Only the top 17 airports were rated in the ACI's Airport Service Quality (ASQ) survey of 275 airports worldwide. The ACI last month released the names of the top ASQ awardees in 2012 in four overall categories _ Best Airport by Region, Best Airport by Size, Best Regional Airport and Best Improvement. At the 2012 World Annual General Assembly in Calgary, Canada, the ACI decided to discontinue the Best Airport Worldwide award category to focus on areas that allow comparison, particularly airport size and region.
